My EW2 crashes frequently as well. I too have windows xp. Typically, I am opening a web page when it happens. And it always, always crashes when I try to insert a bookmark using the insert --> bookmark function. I have to type all of my bookmarks (anchors) directly in the code to avoid the crash.
I've also done all the things mentioned in the previous posts and it does delay the crashes, but never prevents crashes when I try to insert bookmarks. I just put up with it, no matter how annoying it is. I;m sure it's not an inherent feature of EW, but it has something to do with EW. Or maybe it has something to do with the .net framework. I've heard of a lot of people having crashing problems. I've also heard of a lot of people not having the problem with crashes.
Yet, I never have problems with dreamweaver nor any other application installed on my computer. Only EW2. The problem is real. It's not my computer. I've had it all checked.
Oddly, I did not have problems with crashing when using EW2 beta. So while you never experienced a crash, thats great, but it does not mean the problem does not exist. EW2 still has several bugs that need to be worked out. I mean, I cannot insert images by pointing and clicking without my entire page going wacky and flying all over the place. That never happens in Dreamweaver.
I just hope the issue of crashing is addressed so that I can continue to use EW as I too prefer it over Dreamweaver.
